Erica Dulka is the 2018 winner of the Frances Sylvia Zverina Scholarship Award. Erica graduated from Hiram College that year. She currently works for Davey Resource Group (DRG) and is working on the restoration team which is focusing on native trees, shrubs and perennials. Erica is also working on a research project where they are testing seed mixes of native plants for the purpose of controlling soil erosion along Ohio’s roadsides.
The WRHS annually offers two scholarships for undergraduate college students majoring in horticulture and/or allied fields. These scholarships represent one aspect of our Society's mission: Education about herbs and plant sciences related to the sustainability of our earth.

Rachel Navarro is the winner of the 2019 Western Reserve Herb Society Scholarship. Rachel earned an associate degree at Ohlone Community College, California and enrolled in the University of California at Davis in the fall, 2018. She is a senior this year majoring in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems with a minor in Spanish. Rachel hopes to work in agriculture policy and projects that help the farm workers in California learn sustainable methods of farming. She is devoted to developing healthy, safe food systems in California and the world.
